Portraits
When shooting portraits, two goals are paramount: capturing personality and making people look good. In order to capture personality, the client must feel comfortable and relaxed. This is difficult to achieve in a "portrait factory" environment where you have to wait for the people in front of you and you feel rushed because people are waiting behind you. It is also difficult for a photographer who has numerous appointments each day to take time to get to know you and wait for the best in you to come out.
As your photographer, I will work with you on an individual basis. Our initial discussion allows us to get acquainted and share ideas about the photo session. Prior to the appointment, we will discuss how I can provide the "look" you hope to achieve. This initial consultation also enables us to get acquainted, so that shooting together will be more comfortable. I typically prefer to shoot families and kids on location, because natural environments= more natural looking photos. If we shoot in-studio I can still use lighting and poses to achieve a natural look, or if you prefer, a more stylized look.
I have a very strong background in portrait photography- six years as a feature photographer for Ladue News, I3 years as a wedding photographer and 1 year at a senior portrait studio. I am very comfortable with my studio and location techniques, which enable me to achieve the best possible lighting, poses, and backgrounds for you.
